Course Description: The Wilderness First Responder Course is the most intensive course we teach. It has become the industry standard for most guide services and environmental education programs. Our course includes lots of anatomy and physiology. If one understands how the body works they can better understand what it needs during traumatic, environmental and medical emergencies.
Our Wilderness First Responder course is designed with the outdoor professional and outdoor enthusiast in mind. It focuses on developing skills for treating problems outside the “ golden hour” of first response, under extreme conditions or forced to improvise. It is based on the protocols set by the Wilderness Medical Society and instruction encourages the students ability to think through body systems in an effort to determine the best response to traumatic, environmental or medical situations. Classroom sessions are followed with hands on practice to integrate the information in a field setting. 100% attendance is required and there will be a night scenario included. A comprehensive written exam is also administered. The course includes AEHS adult, child and infant CPR certification which is OSHA approved.
*Regarding backcountry flights:
*RESERVATIONS / CANCELLATIONS:
A $500/PER PERSON DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED TO CONFIRM A RESERVATION. THE BALANCE IS DUE, IN FULL, 60 DAYS PRIOR TO THE LAUNCH (AND 90 DAYS PRIOR FOR GROUPS OF 10 OR MORE WHO ARE RECEIVING THE 10% GROUP DISCOUNT). IF PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED BY THAT DATE, WE MAY REGARD YOUR RESERVATION AS CANCELLED. IF YOU FIND IT NECESSARY TO CANCEL YOUR TRIP, OR SWITCH TO A LATER TRIP DATE, PLEASE NOTIFY US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN TELEPHONE, BUT WE WILL ALSO NEED A WRITTEN NOTICE. IF WE RECEIVE WRITTEN NOTICE OF TRIP CANCELLATION PRIOR TO THE BALANCE DUE DATE, A CANCELLATION FEE OF $250 PER PERSON WILL APPLY, WHICH IS EQUAL TO 50% OF THE DEPOSIT. IF CANCELLATIONS OR TRIP DATE CHANGES ARE MADE ON OR AFTER THE BALANCE DUE DATE, NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED UNLESS WE FILL THE TRIP, IN WHICH CASE WE WILL REFUND ALL BUT THE CANCELLATION FEE(S).
WE REGRET WE CANNOT MAKE EXCEPTIONS FOR PERSONAL EMERGENCIES. FOR THIS REASON, WE STRONGLY URGE YOU TO PURCHASE TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE (AVAILABLE THROUGH YOUR TRAVEL AGENT, OR CHECK OUT WHO WE RECOMMEND, TRAVEL GUARD). GUESTS WHO MUST CANCEL ARE WELCOME TO FIND REPLACEMENTS FOR THEIR SPACES. IN THIS CASE, A FULL REFUND WILL BE ISSUED ONLY AFTER TRIP REPLACEMENTS HAVE PAID FOR THEIR TRIP IN FULL.
IN THE RARE EVENT THAT CANYONS RIVER COMPANY IS FORCED TO CANCEL A TRIP FOR REASONS BEYOND OUR CONTROL OR DISCRETION, SUCH AS WILDFIRES, LANDSLIDES OR RIVER CORRIDOR CLOSURE, NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED BUT WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO GET YOU ON ANOTHER TRIP DATE, EITHER IN THE SAME SEASON OR THE FOLLOWING SEASON. IF CANYONS RIVER COMPANY MUST CANCEL A TRIP DUE TO INSUFFICIENT BOOKINGS, WE WILL HAPPILY TRANSFER YOUR MONEY TO A FUTURE TRIP DATE OR ISSUE A FULL REFUND.
