Technical Rope Rescue Courses

These technical ropes courses meet the requirements for the NFPA 1670 standard at Operations Level (TRR-OL) and at the Technician Level (TRR-TL) for technical rope incidents. Our classes are hands on and field oriented. A short classroom session is followed by multiple days of practical field experience. Our field settings are specially selected for their excellent training potential and have made Sierra Rescue the Rescue 3 International Regional Training Center for California.

Technical Rope Rescue : Operations Level

Click here for dates & locations or full course description. This course meets the requirements for the NFPA 1670 standard at the Operations level for technical rope incidents. This three-day course has 1/2 day of classroom instruction followed by 2 1/2 days of practical field exercise.  There is no rope training per-requisite for this course.

Technical Rope Rescue : Technician Level

This five-day course meets the requirements for the Technician level for the NFPA 1670 Standard for technical rope incidents, and is the second of three courses necessary to meet that Standard requirement for water. There is no rope training per-requisite for this course.

California State Fire Marshal: Low Angle Rope Rescue Operations

Click here for dates & locations or full course description. This course is accredited by the California State Fire Marshal’ Office for the Fire Service Training and Education Program (FSTEP). After completion of this three-day (24 hour) course, participants will receive their CSFM Low Angle Rope Rescue Operations FSTEP certificate. This course meets the requirements of NFPA 1670 standard for Operations level for technical rope incidents. Sierra Rescue also offers California State Fire Marshal River & Flood Rescue and Boat Operations courses.

Technical Rope Access

Click here for dates & locations or full course description. These courses are custom courses tailored to an Agency or Organization’s needs. We have worked with the FBI, USFS, DFG, and others to create a curriculum that develops the technical rope skills relevant to both the environment and equipment available to the personnel. The course is taught compliant with any OSHA laws and regulations that apply.
