This Task Book is designed to provide documentation of the knowledge and skills that are required for the various levels of Swiftwater, Flood and Surface Water Rescue. We have interpreted NFPA 1670 and 1006 (2017), and compiled all the Requisite Knowledge and Skills that are recommended at the different levels of Awareness, Operations and Technician for each discipline. It also addresses the requirements for Agencies Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) in NFPA 1670, as well as providing a format for training to the appropriate Job Performance Requirements (JPR’s) in NFPA 1006. FEMA recommendations for Water Rescue Specialist have also been included in an easy to document format.
In addition to Task Book documentation, we have provided additional resources that include templates for Incident Action Plans (IAP’s), witness interviews, information on NFPA 1983, and other relevant resources. There are very clear written testing segments, as well as skills testing documentation pages.
This Task Book is also designed to accompany the Swiftwater, Flood and Surface Water Rescue waterproof field guide which contains extensive information about the knowledge and skills required to accomplish these objectives. It can also be used over time to document any type of training relevant to Swiftwater, Flood and Surface Water Rescue.
